I just searched Google for las vegas hotels and the #1 result was a group of links to Google news articles about Las Vegas hotels. Here is a screenshot:
Maybe Google is thinking, “if we make Universal Search results totally irrelevant to what people are looking for, it will increase Adwords clicks”.
The #2 result was the Yahoo Travel page for Las Vegas which included a map, a list of hotels with prices, things to do in Las Vegas, restaurants, trip itineraries, travel guides, user reviews, cars, flights, “fare chaser”, and much more.
